Eyebrows Tattoo Pre-Care
To ensure the best results from your eyebrow tattoo, it is important to properly prepare in advance. Please follow the guidelines below to help achieve optimal healing and colour retention:
7 Days Before the Procedure:
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, and blood-thinning medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen) as these can increase sensitivity and the risk of bleeding.
- Stop using Retinol, Vitamin A, or any anti-ageing products containing Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, or Salicylic Acid. These can thin the skin, which may affect the healing process and colour retention.
- No tanning or excessive sun exposure for at least a week prior, as this can increase skin sensitivity and irritation during the procedure.
- If you regularly have Botox, fillers, or facial treatments, ensure these are done at least one months before your appointment.
24-48 Hours Before the Procedure:
- No alcohol or caffeine during this period to avoid excessive bleeding during the procedure.
- Avoid intense exercise or anything that causes heavy sweating, as this can affect the procedure and healing process.
On the Day of the Procedure:
- Do not wax, tweeze, or thread your brows on the day of the procedure. It’s best to leave them in their natural state for the tattoo artist to work with.
- Ensure your skin is clean and free from makeup, creams, or oils.
- Eat a light meal before your appointment to avoid feeling lightheaded during the procedure.
- Make sure to schedule your appointment when you can avoid strenuous activities or exposure to water, sun, and sweat for at least 5 days post-procedure.
Consider any upcoming events, as your brows will take a few weeks to fully heal and may go through stages of flaking or peeling.
By following these pre-care instructions, you’ll help ensure your skin is in the best condition for the procedure, which will promote effective healing and long-lasting results.
Eyebrows After-Care
For optimal results from your eyebrow tattoo, it is essential to follow the aftercare instructions carefully.
Dry healing is the best approach, so keep your brows completely dry for the first 3 days to retain colour, detail, and crispness.
Key Rules for the First 3 Days:
- No water, moisture, sweat, or sun exposure.
- Use a clean pillowcase while sleeping.
- In the shower, keep your face away from the water stream and avoid steam. If your brows get accidentally wet, gently pat them dry with a clean paper towel.
- When washing your face, use a washcloth or cleansing wipe to clean around your brows, ensuring they stay dry.
- No heavy exercise or sweating for at least 5 days.
After Day 3:
You may begin washing your face and brows normally with a gentle face wash.
If your skin feels tight or dry, you can apply a very thin layer of the Vitamin A & D ointment provided.
What to Expect During Healing:
Immediately after your procedure, your brows will appear darker and more defined. This can last for up to a week.
- You may experience slight discomfort, redness, and a sensation similar to sunburn.
- Scabbing, flaking, or peeling may occur as your skin heals.
Do not pick or scratch; allow the scabs to fall off naturally, as premature removal may result in pigment loss.
The complete healing process takes 4-6 weeks, after which the true colour of your brows will become apparent.
Your brows will go through several stages:
- Days 1-4: Brows will appear dark and crisp as a light scab forms.
- Days 5-12: Scabs will peel and flake away. The skin underneath may appear too light, but this is temporary.
- Days 10-30: Colour will gradually return as the skin settles and heals. Wait at least 4 weeks before assessing the final result.
What Not to Do:
- Do not wet your brows. Avoid water, shampoo, or soap on the treated area.
- Do not pick at dry skin or scabs; allow them to fall off naturally to avoid scarring and pigment loss.
- No makeup on the brow area for at least 10 days.
- Avoid Vaseline, Neosporin, or other petroleum-based products.
- No bleaching, tinting, or dyeing the brows for one month.
- Avoid anti-acne and anti-ageing products such as Benzoyl Peroxide, AHAs, Retinol, or lightening creams during healing.
- No threading, waxing, or hair removal on the treated area until fully healed.
- Avoid exercising or heavy sweating for 10 days, as it can blur the strokes and affect colour retention.
- No sun exposure, swimming, saunas, or hot tubs for two weeks.
- Avoid soaking your face underwater or having direct shower spray on your face for 10 days.
Once Healed:
Protect your brows from sun exposure to prevent fading or discolouration. Use sunscreen daily, wear large sunglasses, and a hat for additional protection.
- Avoid facials, Botox, or chemical peels for 4 weeks.
Keep products like glycolic acid, microdermabrasion, and laser treatments away from the tattooed area to prevent pigment changes.
After 4-8 weeks, once the healing process is complete, you can attend your follow-up appointment to touch up any light spots or make adjustments.
By following these guidelines, you will ensure your eyebrow tattoo heals properly and looks its best.
